Afro Celt Sound System

The emblematic and symbiotic collective between Afro – Celts and Electronic Sound System is preparing its new album for 2023. With album sales now topping more than one and a half million, two Grammy nominations to date and tours all around the world, they are the legendary afro-celtic band bringing spirits and music from different cultures together to a breathtaking show. ECC Records released ‘Flight‘, the 8th studio album by this ground-breaking collective on 23rd November 2018 supported by a major 10 day UK wide tour (November 2018, including London’s Barbican Centre on 21st). The album explores themes of migration – both human and avian – with a dazzling cast of stellar musicians from around the globe. Afro Celt Sound System celebrated their 20th Anniversary in 2016 with an acclaimed album, The Source, which fRoots Magazine described as ‘a colossus of an album’. But the sound has also smartly developed, the electronica of earlier incarnations more muted and the acoustic textures more nuanced as the traditional African instruments vie with the pipes and flutes of Celtic heritage, underpinned by bhangra drums, and with vocal decoration ranging from the shamanic voice of Rioghnach Connolly to Guinean devotional chanting. » Songlines Music Awards 2017 – Afro Celt Sound System « Best Group »
